Docetaxel (Taxotere®; Aventis, Strasbourg, France) is currently considered to be one of the most important anticancer drugs. It is a semi-synthetic agent derived from baccatin III extracted from renewable Taxus baccata needles, which binds to tubulin inducing its polymerization [1].
