Cholangiocarcinoma refers to primary cancer of intrahepatic bile ducts. Resection is the most effective treatment, with a median survival of 36 months and a 5-year survival rate of 50%; however, unresectable tumors have a very poor prognosis with a median survival of 11 months and a 3-year survival rate of 21% [1, 2].
