Chemokine receptors in advanced breast cancer
|
|---|
Chemokines are a superfamily of small, cytokine-like proteins
that induce cytoskeleton rearrangement, adhesion to endothelial
cells, and directional migration. These secreted proteins act
in a coordinated fashion with cell-surface proteins to direct
the specific homing of various subsets of hematopoietic cells
to specific anatomical sites. A CXC chemokine and its receptor,
CXCR4, appear to be involved in the direction of metastatic
organ
