A doublet chemotherapy, generally cisplatin or carboplatin-based, is the standard of care in the management of advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients, defined as unresectable stage IIIB or stage IV disease [1Go]. Numerous trials have established the superiority of third generation cytotoxic agent combinations over old fashion regimens (2–4).
